Overview

Email me when available is a service where a customer enters their email address to receive a notification when an item they were wishing to buy is back in stock. Once stock has been replenished, Mothercare will send an email alerting the customer. Stakeholders wanted the same feature for 'pre-order' items too.

Low-fidelity wireframes

Wireframes provide me with a visual representation of the space, structure, and layout of my web page or application design. It helps stakeholders as well as developers understand the arrangement of elements (as blocks) on the screen, such as the placement of buttons, text, images, and navigational menus.

The Process:

01. Select a product

This could be from a product description page, a category listing page, or a product listing page. If the item is currently out of stock and expected to come back in, the customer will be presented with the option of an 'email me when back in stock' button.

The Process

02. Enter an email address

By entering an email address, customers will be the first to know when the sold-out item will be back in stock.

The Process:

03. You've got mail

Once the product is available again, the email subscriber will get a notification linking them back to the product, ready to purchase. The process would also work for pre-order items.

The Impact

The new feature for Mothercare played a big part in retaining customers and increasing sales through its timely notifications, enhancing the overall shopping experience. It also gathered valuable data for streamlining stock management for improved efficiency and targeted marketing. Regular assessments ensured that the feature consistently met both customer expectations and business objectives.
